HCA Healthcare Hospitals in New Hampshire Rally to End Hunger With Nearly 2,800 Pounds of Food Collected
Healthcare workers in New Hampshire decided to do something different in November 2025. Employees at four HCA Healthcare hospitals put together nearly 2,800 pounds of food during the annual Healthy Food for Healthier Tomorrows Food Drive. Consequently, this movement has given more than 2,300 meals to the families, who are facing hunger, thus demonstrating how the local healthcare teams are taking the lead in the well-being of the community besides their usual role.
The food drive was a two-week event that also involved the staff of Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, Parkland Medical Center in Derry, and Portsmouth Regional Hospital. The personnel of each institution were invited to bring in products from the lists of requested items that were drawn up based on the food pantries they were supporting. After the drive, the groups achieved 2,798 pounds of foods that will be directly handed over to the Seacoast and Southern New Hampshire regions’ hunger relief organizations.
Below is the donation summary and the utilization of the resources:
- Catholic Medical Center in Manchester packed 431 pounds of food for the New Hampshire Food Bank.
- Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester contributed 542 pounds to The Share Fund.
- Parkland Medical Center in Derry gave 375 pounds to the Sonshine Soup Kitchen.
- Portsmouth Regional Hospital was the top contributor among the four facilities with 1,450 pounds, which was helpful to Gather.
Portsmouth Regional Hospital’s accomplishment was particularly significant, highlighting it as the top donor among the hospitals involved in HCA Healthcare’s Capital Division this year. Sean Patterson, CEO of Portsmouth Regional, looked back the initiative with satisfaction. He applauded his staff for their spirit of community and their readiness to exceed their daily tasks to help others.
The Healthy Food for Healthier Tomorrows Food Drive started in 2021 and has since expanded to become a campaign across the enterprise. Its goal is to tackle food insecurity that affects millions of Americans and is the root cause of many health problems, such as diabetes, heart diseases, and mental health issues. By working with local nonprofit organizations, HCA Healthcare intends to make it easier for families living in the communities where hospital staff reside and work to have access to nutritious food.
According to Christopher Finley, assistant vice president of community engagement for HCA Healthcare’s Capital Division, hunger is a community health issue. Without regular access to nutritious meals, people, he observed, are more likely to develop chronic diseases and other health problems. He conveyed his pride in the New Hampshire teams by saying that their continuous commitment to the assistance of the less fortunate is indeed impactful.
For a lot of the employees, the yearly drive represents an opportunity to build rapport with co-workers and partner organizations around a shared goal. Moreover, it serves as a reminder to healthcare workers that the responsibility of caring for the community welfare extends beyond the hospital premises. Their endeavors this year would enable food pantries to fill their shelves in preparation for the holiday season when the request for food is usually at its peak.
