Dr. Lucica Ditiu’s Global Health Leadership in 2026
Global health expert Dr. Lucica Ditiu has been on the center stage of the 2026 discussion around equitable, AI empowered healthcare, basing her views on her work with the World Health Organization and Stop TB Partnership on how nations should scale towards digital health and AI driven care. Her work cuts across policy, innovation and advocacy and focuses on the idea that emerging technologies should not amplify existing inequalities but rather adopt a position of helping to bridge the gaps in access, particularly to low and middle income countries. She has assisted in setting a vision in forums like the Global Health Summit and International Health Dialogue 2026 where AI, tele health and interoperable data systems are used to support localized public health responses instead of being just a commercial oriented platform. One of the themes of 2026 is convergence of biopharma innovation and digital health with capital flowing towards startups which integrate new therapies with data conscious diagnostics and monitoring. Ditiu has been a strong advocate in the application of AI to speed up the process of drug discovery to treat tuberculosis and other forgotten diseases, and also advocating regulators to implement strong governance models that promote the privacy of patient data and avoid algorithmic bias. Through her advocacy, governments and multilateral agencies have developed so-called health tech ecosystems, which align electronic health records, mobile health applications and provider networks into one coordinated continuum of care.
