Rural Healthcare Funding Aims to Support Punxsutawney Area Hospital and Broader Rural Care in Pennsylvania

The federal government will increase its funding for rural healthcare which will benefit Punxsutawney Area Hospital in Jefferson County Pennsylvania. The new Rural Health Transformation Program will provide national funding which will enable rural areas to receive better healthcare services and facility upgrades and service expansion. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced in late 2025 that every state would begin receiving federal support from this program.

The program received backing through investments worth approximately $50 billion which the Working Families Tax Plan established. U.S. Senator Dave McCormick highlighted the funding’s importance for rural communities across Pennsylvania.
